Actual Business Days in HubSpot

Actual business days means a calendar with weekends, your country's public holidays, and your own company's holidays all excluded together, not just one or two of those. HubSpot's Time between calculated property can skip weekends in the account time zone. Its workflow delays wait calendar days, and its SLA feature uses operating hours. These native options do not exclude public and company holidays together as a business-day count. NetworkDays does, as a set of workflow actions, so "business days" means actual business days across NetworkDays actions and reports.

This page is the overview of everything NetworkDays does with business days in HubSpot. For a single step-by-step walkthrough of the free action, see how to calculate business days.

Calculate Business Days

The free action. Map two HubSpot date properties as start and end, choose a country, and the action returns the number of working days between them, excluding weekends and that country's public holidays, with coverage across 250+ countries. Add or Subtract Business Days

A Pro action. Give it a date and a count, and it returns the date that many business days forward or back, skipping weekends and holidays automatically. This is also today's real answer to "wait N business days" in a workflow: HubSpot has no native business-day-aware delay step, only a calendar-day delay or an operating-hours restriction, so the working pattern is to use this action to compute the target date, then chain HubSpot's native "Delay until a date" step right after it, pointed at that result. It takes two steps today.

Check If a Date Is a Business Day

A Pro action. Pass in any date and get back whether it falls on a business day, with the reason when it doesn't (weekend or which public holiday). Useful as a branch condition before scheduling anything off a date a contact or deal record already holds.

Find the Next or Previous Business Day

A Pro action. Give it a date and a direction, and it rolls forward or back to the nearest actual business day, skipping weekends and holidays. Common pairing: round a contact-entered date to the next real business day before anything downstream treats it as a hard deadline.

Company Holidays

Public holiday calendars cover 250+ countries automatically, but your office might close on dates no public calendar lists. Company Holidays (Pro and above) lets you add organization-specific dates that every action above respects, the same way a public holiday would be respected.

Reporting in Actual Business Days

A calculation action's output exists only inside the workflow run that produced it, until you save it. Chain HubSpot's native "Set property value" action right after any NetworkDays action to write the result to a real property, usable in reports, list filters, or shown on the record. For deal and ticket velocity specifically, Premium's Velocity Reports track time-in-stage and time-to-close automatically, in actual business days rather than calendar days, with no workflow to build by hand. See reporting SLAs in business days for a full ticket-based walkthrough.

Common questions

Does HubSpot have a native business days feature?
Yes. The beta weekend-exclusion option on HubSpot calculated properties' Time between skips Saturdays and Sundays only, using the account time zone, in Professional and Enterprise hubs. It does not exclude public or company holidays. Workflow delays wait calendar days or restrict execution to a window, and the SLA feature uses operating hours. NetworkDays provides workflow actions that count business days excluding weekends, country public holidays, and company holidays.
Can I delay a workflow by business days in HubSpot?
Not in a single native step today. The working approach is to use NetworkDays' Add or Subtract Business Days action to compute the target date, then chain HubSpot's native "Delay until a date" step pointed at that result. A single action that does this in one step is planned, not yet shipped.
Does this work across multiple countries?
Yes. Every calculation action lets you choose a country, and holiday data is maintained automatically for 250+ countries, so a global team can run the same workflow logic correctly per contact, company, deal, or ticket.
What's free versus paid?
Calculate Business Days is free, with a fair-usage cap of 3,000 calculations per month. Add/Subtract, Check If Business Day, Find Next/Previous, and Company Holidays are Pro. CRM card and Velocity Reports are Premium.
